My family and I (minus Mom) just got back from seeing Pirates 3. Without giving an entire movie review a la Rachael, I thought it was pretty good. Considering what poor planning they did with plot when they first started the Pirate films, they did a good job of tying up all the loose ends by the end of the film. I also enjoyed the deal within a deal within a deal and the feint within a feint within a feint, so maybe the film didn't seem so dragged out to me, despite being almost three hours long.
I've read only a few reviews of the film so far, but many critics seem to say there is no plot, and that it's hard to gather what's there. No, this is not your typical Hollywood film with only one plot line and basic message. I saw this film more like a novel, with many threads of plot entwining around different themes at various levels. This film defied convention in many ways; I was impressed.
That was my mini review on Pirates. It didn't go very in depth, but I wouldn't want to spoil it for anybody who hasn't seen it yet.
